Support the Library System

Supporting the library system is easy! Each time you use our web site, borrow an item, visit one of our locations, attend a program or search for information in one of our databases, you are showing your support. Other opportunities are available through the Friends of the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library, Volunteer LEON, and Literacy Volunteers of Leon County.

The Friends of LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library supports the library system through its fund raising activities, including an annual author event, book sales, and other programs. The Friends also operate "The FriendShop", a used book store and gift shop on the first floor of the Main Library. The FriendShop is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, call 850 / 224-3290.
To become a member of the Friends of the Library, fill out the application located in the Friendsletter newsletter, or call 850 / 915-1670.

Volunteer LEON, the county’s volunteer services program, will help you find your "niche" at the Library. Volunteers are considered valued members of our library family. As a library volunteer, you will acquire new skills and knowledge; support literacy and life-long learning; meet new and interesting people; and have fun!
To get started, submit an application to VolunteerLEON and attend orientation. Volunteer positions for adults, youth, and court ordered volunteers are available throughout the year. Applications are online or call 850 / 606-1970.

Literacy Volunteers of Leon County (LVLC) is a non-profit organization sponsored in part by the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library. LVLC trains volunteers to tutor adult learners with low reading and writing skills and non-native speakers of English who wish to improve their English skills. LVLC also provides a Family Learning Center at the Dr. B. L. Perry, Jr. Branch on South Adams Street.
For more information, go to www.literacyvolunteersleon.org; or contact them at  literacy@leoncountyfl.gov or (850) 606-2644.
