The Friends/ Gates Computer Learning Center
The Friends/Gates Computer Learning Center is used for classes in computer, internet, and email basics; we also have a few more advanced classes, such as
Genealogy, WordPad, File Management, and Web Design/HTML. A new schedule is
announced each month and you must reserve a seat in the class you wish to take
by calling 850 / 606-2665; stopping by the media desk in person; or
e-mailing the Library at
weblib@leoncountyfl.gov.
The Class Materials are
available online for students and anyone else interested in
learning.
Please check our
Computer Classes
Schedule for times and dates, the schedule appears on the classes calendar at
left or in the Library's printed monthly newsletter available at the
Main Library and all Branches. The classes are suspended from
November-January.
This lab contains eleven computers set up with Windows XP,
Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office XP programs, including Word, Excel,
Power Point, and more.
Internet Computers
The Technology/ Media department houses a total of 35 Internet access computers
including those in the Friends/ Gates Computer Learning Center. These computers
are available for public use during regular library hours on a first-come, first
served basis. Each patron is given 2 - one hour sessions on Internet computers.
Printing is available and shall be limited to a reasonable amount.

Personal Computer Center
The eight computers in our Personal
Computer Center are set up with
Windows 2000, Corel WordPerfect 9 and Microsoft Office XP (Excel, Word, and
PowerPoint), Animation Shop 5.0, Mavis Beavis Teaches Typing, and more ... but no
Internet access. Our Personal Computer Center also has a laser printer for
producing a reasonable number of documents. There is a two (2) hour per patron,
per day, time limit when others are waiting.
